Name.: Hazelkit ----> Hazelpaw ----> Hazelfire.
Sex.: She-cat.
Age.: 22 moons.
Clan.: Windclan.
Rank.: Queen.
Eye Colour.: Light hazel.
Reference.: #1 #2 A brown on white she-cat with black stripes and light hazel eyes.
Strength.: 4
Defense.: 4
Agility.: 3
Stealth.: 2
Tracking.: 2
Personality.: Rational and level-headed, Hazelfire is a breath of fresh air for troubled souls. She's resilient and passive, yet terribly clueless.
While she may look like a model warrior, she isn't one for picking up on subtle hints. Being up front with her is the best way to go, otherwise you won't cover much distance in the conversation.
Having gone through the death of a loved one three consecutive times, she is sympathetic towards cats suffering a loss and is compelled to comfort them. Her soothing nature helps calm them and with some soft, inspirational words she can get them to move on.
With a name that honors her fighting skill, Hazelfire prefers to atleast consider some strategies before trying to leap into battle. She is incredibly strong, something not usually expected from a she-cat. This fact is used to her advantage. While not the fastest, she hits and defends easy. Her best stance in a fight is protecting a certain spot.
History.:
Kithood
Aspenstrike and Cinderbreeze were senior warriors by the time they became mates. They knew it was risky to try for kits at their age, yet they wanted a family more than anything.
Their wish came true when Cinderbreeze gleefully announced she was pregnant. Aspenstrike was proud they were able to conceive so late and pampered her daily with the best of prey. His careful treatment towards her paid off when two healthy kits were born. They named the male Sootkit, for his dark gray pelt, and the female Hazelkit, for her light brown coat.
Hazelkit and her brother bonded immediately. They stuck by each other's side and spent most of their nursery days playing together instead of with the other kits. The family couldn't have been happier.
Apprenticehood
The days of pretend tussling were drawing to a close and the moons of real sparring were starting to approach. Hazelkit and Sootkit soon proved to be to big and rambunctious for the nursery, not to mention Cinderbreeze was aching to go back to her warrior duties. She had no regrets about kitting, though she admitted that after a while cramps developed in your legs and the air got stuffier.
A few words with the leader and two ceremonies later Petalwind was assigned as Hazelpaw's mentor. She was a vibrant, gentle she-cat who'd already watched a previous apprentice become a warrior. Sootpaw was given a tom named Branchclaw. Due to his strict training schedule, Sootpaw was not able to spend as much time with his sister as he would have liked. Needless to say, their connection was going to be put to the test.
It was in that time of her life that Hazelpaw decided to get acquainted with her denmates. A certain tom named Goosepaw always welcomed her company and would often seek her out to train or hunt together. Hazelpaw saw them as friendly gestures mostly, though something had begun to stir in her chest everytime he greeted her.
On the rare occasions she did meet with Sootpaw, he was often correcting her about something and complaining about how she wasted to much time with Goosepaw. Hazelpaw could only retaliate by commenting on how Sootpaw was never actually there anymore. A rift had wedged itself between them, and it demanded more space every day.
Sometime during their apprenticeship, Cinderbreeze and Aspenstrike moved into the elders den. For some reason this shocked Hazelpaw. She hadn't truly realized how old her parents were getting. It chilled her to the bone to think about how much time they had left before Starclan took them away. Sadly, that moment arrived much too soon. Aspenstrike, despite being the younger one of the couple, passed on not a moon after stepping down from his position. Cinderbreeze discovered him lying still one morning when she tried sharing a rabbit with him. She insisted on helping bury him, yet she was denied of doing so. Sootpaw tagged along, hoping to pay his respects. Hazelpaw, however, couldn't bare to go.
As A Warrior
Hazelpaw and Sootpaw were made into warriors that same moon. They received their official names and sat guard together. There was an uncomfortable border between them and secretly both were thankful that there was a rule against talking. Their relief was short lived, for when the dawn rose it appeared Cinderbreeze was not breathing. Hazelpaw, now Hazelfire for her prowess in battle, was further devastated. Sootpaw, now Sootfrost for his determined, tactful ways, grieved alone by the river, lashing out angrily at his surroundings. Looking into his contorted reflection, he realized how much he missed his parents. Oh, how he longed to be with them again!
His body was found, washed up on the bank, sopping wet. It was assumed he drowned, yet no one could figure out how it had happened. All except for Hazelfire, who knew it was done on purpose. Her brother had killed himself to be with their dead parents. Torn apart by the loss of one family member after another, Hazelfire turned to the last cat she had left.
Goosepaw had been made a warrior before she had, as he was older than her it made sense. His name was Goosefoot now, for his speed. Hazelfire found refuge in him, as he distracted her from mourning long enough to go on patrols together. Soon they shared meals and eventually a nest. In the following moons she spilled all her feelings to him. How her ideals of a perfect family were destroyed. How she hadn't known how old her parents were until they became elders. How she had felt so distanced from her brother when they became apprentices. Goosefoot listened patiently through all this. Hazelfire kept getting that fluttery spark in her chest when they were together. Finally, one night in leaf-bare she came to such an obvious conclusion that she couldn't believe she hadn't become aware of it sooner. Goosefoot really liked her. Not only that, Hazelfire really liked him too.
Expecting Mother
Hazelfire told Goosefoot what she thought of him the next morning. She worried his face wouldn't be able to hold his huge smile. He explained to her that he had liked her since being apprentices. The confessions ended with a firm 'I love you' from both cats.
Hazelfire was back to normal, and dare one say happy. She was recovering from her traumatic experience with help from her new mate and felt better than ever. Well, except for a pain in her tummy. A trip to the medicine cat revealed she was pregnant with kits. Her hopes of a perfect family were coming together again. Goosefoot would be so surprised!
