History:
Fawnkit was her mother's first and last litter.
Daisyfur had been warned by the medicine cat to avoid having kits due to her tiny stature, but she had loved Sheeptail too much and couldn't be swayed from her dream of starting a family with him. But perhaps she should have listened.
While Fawnkit was on the small side herself, the birth had been too hard on Daisy's little body, and she bled out while delivering Fawnkit's stillborn littermates.
She was named Fawnkit by her father, for her downy, pale brown-and-white fur. And while her brothers had been dead on arrival, the grieving tom gave his sons names as well, so that they would not wander StarClan without even something to go by.
Fawnpaw became very close to her father, as the white tom was all the family she had left. She made friends growing up, and Sheeptail had his own support, but the two forged an inseparable bond that only StarClan could break.
And break it, it did.
Fortunately, it was well past her apprenticeship, and even motherhood, that her father bit the dust.
He was there for her ceremony, where she received the suffix "-tail" for her long, tabby tail (she was too well-rounded to get any kind of stand-out name). He was there for when she fell in love with the young, but powerful Sedgefoot, who showed great potential as a warrior and a father.
He was there for her first litter, and there for his grandson's death, as Swiftpaw got too close to the RiverClan border one evening and collapsed into the corge. He was there for her second litter, where Sedgefoot was not. The tom had succumbed to the icy leaf-bare after suffering a horrible case of greencough during Fawntail's pregnancy.
And it was finally, just before her kitting that Sheeptail himself joined the ranks of his mate, sons, grandson and son-in-law in the stars.
Unbeknownst to Fawntail, her father had been giving the queen his own food portions and starved himself into StarClan so that Fawntail and her new litter would not. The confession from her oldest son, who had aided him in his endeavor, had shaken her to the core with guilt, but also an unfathomable gratitude.
