Personality:
- Being a non-Clan cat originally, he faintly remembers his life as a kittypet, which often colours his viewpoints in a discussion, because he doesn't see Clan life only as something glorified and wonderful
- Isn't ashamed of his heritage in the least, and hates it when others use his kittypet-blood as an argument against him, like it's such a bad thing
- Outspoken mostly because he's a social being who craves close contact, and if he gotta talk to get your attention, he will
- A source of many a new idea, because he wants to be helpful - even if some of his ideas sound utterly stupid
- Has a great memory, which gives him a plus when hunting, because he remembers exactly where he last saw or heard prey last
- Does not believe in StarClan, finding the concept too vague, and has made it no secret either - leading to a certain amount of tenseness between him and the more devout believers in the Clan
- Suffers a bit of a mental trauma after his near-death experience as a kit, and still remembers how cold his dead siblings felt - he won't talk about it willingly, but he tends to fall into thought, especially in wintertime, because the cold keeps reminding him of it
History:
There isn't very much Duskwing remembers about his early kithood; he remembers that he had a family, a mother and siblings, and that they lived in a twoleg house, as kittypets. He remembers trying new foods, that didn't require many mouthfuls before he was full, and the warmth of the twoleg house, and the people being nice to him.
But he does not remember what changed; why suddenly he and his siblings were put in a box, so far from home none of them knew where to go, and left by the Thunderpath. He doesn't remember falling asleep amidst the cold. But he'll never forget the feeling of waking up, feeling his brother and sister stiff as ice beside him, and the many hours he spent alone, shivering in the dark.
It was a WindClan tom who picked him up, a tabby named Brackentooth, and by the time the tomkit arrived in the Clan he was two breaths away from freezing to death. It took days before he began to recover again. When he finally did, his caretakers made the decision to adopt him, and renamed him Duskkit. It was something to get used to, but Duskkit was very happy to finally have a family again, and he latched onto his older step-sister like a tick, near driving her crazy because she didn't like him in the least.
Duskpaw's apprenticeship was one of ups as well as downs; The sceptics whispered that as kittypet-born, he was too soft for their style of living, and even if that wasn't entirely true, Duskpaw's physique didn't exactly match too well with WindClan's mode of hunting. He wasn't the lithe, slender type who could run for ages across the moor, or navigate the dark tunnels without scraping up his back. So he had to get inventive. Sometimes, Duskpaw simply did as any cat did; he stalked, quietly, until he was within leaping distance of his prey. Other times, he'd find himself a hillside, and come at his prey from a higher distance, giving it less time to react before he reached his prize.
And so ended his time as an apprentice, and he became a warrior together with his step-sister, given the name Duskwing. He makes do as a pretty good warrior despite circumstances; he's friendly to all his Clan mates; and he annoys a good few by forwarding ideas that are sometimes so radical they might as well forget the warrior code as a whole. Even if 90% of his life has been that of a Clan cat, Duskwing cannot toss away the memories of his first moons of life; he doesn't agree with the thought that Clan life is the only correct way of life, or that it's StarClan who decides who lives and dies - afterall, they did nothing for his siblings.
