Overview
Due to a troubled past, Emberheart's personality has a few major points, which her life revolves around.
Motherly(P)
Emberheart's failed kitting from when she was a young cat has left her scarred emotionally for almost her entire young life. After watching her kit, Robin, drown in a river and being unable to save him, she has been fiercely protective of kits and often can be seen checking in on the queens in the Nursery. She wants to try for kits of her own again one day, but she fears her mate leaving her and her having to fend for kits by herself. Emberheart is a bit distrustful of toms, even though she knows she shouldn't be, although that's another issue altogether. Emberheart is the kind of she-cat you see wistfully looking in the Nursery while not actively pursuing a mate to get into there. Failed experiences leave quite the scar on some cats, y'know.
Gold-Hearted(P)
Emberheart received her -heart suffix for a reason; She's pure of heart. She has a very distinct idea of what is good and what is bad, and although she can see the shades of grey, she believes there is a line, and that line should not be crossed. She knows that her Clan is subject to failures from time to time, and that is only normal, and she makes sure everyone knows a lesson about humility before they go off trying to argue against a cat begging for food. While she is hardly the friendly type of cat, she is very set in her ways, and speaks out against harm on other cats.
Passionate(P)
This she-cat does everything she does with passion - Be it fighting or hunting for her Clan, Emberheart will do it until it doesn't need to be. She goes the extra mile to make sure her Clan-mates are taken care of before she is, a selfless type of attitude no one would have expected from a former loner. However, her passion on some subjects, such as her idea of right and wrong, can get on some cat's nerves. After all, she isn't perfect. Who knows if that cat she's arguing on the behalf on is a blood-thirsty killer? The valiant aren't always making the wisest decisions.
Over-Protective(E)
Stated as a neutral type of characteristic, Emberheart is a tad over protective. She will stop at nothing to protect her Clan, and will do anything to protect any kit. While being over protective isn't always the best thing, it has its perks. If she senses trouble, she'll make sure everyone will know. After all, cats who are constantly on the lookout for danger will probably be among the first to see it.
Introverted(N)
While being introverted is hardly a negative trait in itself, the extent to which Emberheart takes it is a bit more on the antisocial side of the spectrum. Emberheart can only handle interactions for short periods of time, and crowds make her nervous. She prefers to do most things by herself, including hunting and even a brief patrol. It isn't that she doesn't love her Clan - It's just that she can only handle small bursts of conversation before feeling like she wants the world to swallow her up.
Sarcastic(N)
Sarcastic is a much better word for Emberheart than friendly. While she does have a heart of gold, Emberheart is bound to get on your nerves with her constant sarcastic, cold remarks. The only cats entirely safe from it are queens and kits, who she always seems to be very soft on. Emberheart's notions of good-and-bad may be clear, but sometimes she doesn't seem to realize a lot of her remarks are a bit cutting and cruel. Everyone has their flaws.
Anxious(N)
Most of Emberheart's sarcasm stems from this trait. She is terribly anxious, and often feels the need to snap at others before they prey on her. While she doesn't know why she developed such an anxiety, it was developed when she met Flame and had his kits, and grew when he left her, leaving her to fend for herself. Emberheart won't ever admit that every time she opens her mouth she feels like dying, though. It's much too personal, much like everything about her.
History:
Overview
Emberheart had a life full of unfortunate events, and is haunted by it all to this day. Clan life sure is sheltered compared to what loners and rogues face.
Kithood (1 - 6 Moons)
Emberheart was born to lone tortoiseshell she-cat out in an abandoned barn alongside two stillborn brothers. Her mother had a troubled pregnancy and it was lucky she had lived at all, and she was named Ember, for being the spark of a fire to her mother's life and for her tortoiseshell pelt. Her father was never present and she never got to know too much about her father, which is common for loners. The only thing she heard about him was that he was a handsome tom who was in the wrong place at the wrong time - After that, her mother never spoke of him. Ember spent much time with her mother, Bramble, learning how to fend for herself as soon as she could walk. When she was six moons old, Bramble left her to fend for herself, another thing customary of loner cats. Ember was upset, but knew she'd only make it by moving on, and did so with ease.
Meeting Flame (6 - 7 Moons)
A week after her mother left, Ember met a tom named Flame, a red classic tabby who was a year older than she was. The tom took her in and helped her understand what to eat and what not to eat, what to avoid and what not to avoid, much like her mother did, but in greater detail. Ember mistook her young feelings of her first friendship for a crush, and begun to stick around him. It wasn't long until Flame manipulated her into being his mate, to which Ember found to be a blessing. She soon found herself with an unexpected surprise.
Having Kits (7 - 11 Moons)
Ember found herself pregnant at an age most Clan cats would find terrifying - seven moons. She thought she was happy, until she told Flame, who promptly left her. This left her alone and pregnant at an age dangerously young for most cats, even though some she-cats might start estrus around five moons. Ember found herself going through a very problematic pregnancy for two months, and at nine moons old, she gave birth to three kits. She had two daughters which were stillborn, and a tortoiseshell tom who she named Robin. Robin, having Klinefelter Syndrome, was subject to the worst of what it had to offer. Ember knew something was wrong with her kit when he was too weak to crawl to her belly, but devoted all her time and effort into keeping him alive.
Robin missed most of the milestones typical of a kit by a moon old, or they had developed very slowly and came very late. He couldn't crawl properly until he was a moon old, and hadn't opened his eyes until three weeks of age. Ember denied to herself that her kit wouldn't be normal, but it was obvious something wouldn't be right with him. When Robin was a month and a half old, however, he was able to walk feebly, so Ember took him out by a river to celebrate.
Robin and Ember stayed around the river for quite some time, and eventually made it their home, as Ember saw how happy it made her troubled son. However, when Robin was two moons old, he stumbled away from Ember's nest and fell into the river. Ember woke up as soon as she heard the splash and dove after him, but the only reward she received for fighting for her baby's life was Robin's first and last word: "Mama." Ember, in emotional shock, still too young to be able to handle such a loss, traveled south at eleven moons old, struggling to shake all that has happened to her.
Finding SunClan (11 Moons)
It wasn't long until Ember found herself in the Clan Forest territories, and stumbled into SunClan's by pure chance. The Clan, shocked to see such an upset young cat, took her in. She never told the Clan her story, but instead said her mother had died and she needed somewhere to stay, and the Clan allowed her to stay out of pity for her.
Apprenticeship (11 - 14 Moons)
It was about two weeks before Ember finally decided to stay permanently, the invitation extended by the leader. She accepted and due to her age and the newness of the Clan itself, was passed between former mentors, and was given the name Emberpaw to show that she was now a Clan cat. It was thought that she should become a warrior at twelve moons, but due to personal choice, Emberpaw elected to keep training for four more moons to gain as much Clan knowledge as possible.
Warriorhood to Current (14 Moons - Current)
Emberpaw became Emberheart at fourteen moons of age, receiving her -heart suffix for her bravery and defense of kits in the Nursery, even against the silliest of things. Emberheart became surprisingly proud of her new title, but it rapidly wore off as her anxiety became a problem for her joining patrols and such. She has carried on a thankfully uneventful life, and has yet to tell anyone about Robin, too scared of what others might think of her after observing their lives.
